COVID-19 has turned our lives around: from online coursework to cancelled educational tours to a March devoid of examophobia. Even more, this lockdown has made it uncertainty about whether or not college campuses will even reopen for the opening semesters. There seem to be even more questions than there are answers.
With the pandemic driven lockdown bringing life to a standstill, educational institutes are trying its best to limit the hinderance caused to students’ education by this pandemic. They are putting up mechanisms in place to ensure that the ongoing academic session in colleges and universities across the country does not suffer any setbacks. Many colleges, especially the market-driven ones, have already addressed the need of the time and have set up online and offline platforms to cater to the specific needs of students. They have started the use of many online tools like YouTube, Google Classroom and others. Proactive and market driven institutes are ensuring that students are being provided the necessary interventions so that their academic session and education does not suffer.
As parents or students, how events unfold hold a very high stake for you in the decisions surrounding the meaningful investment—personally and professionally—of college education. The admission season is soon approaching. Nowadays, most students wait to visit the campus so that they can get a feel of the actual ambience, before they submit registration/admission fee. But the current COVID-19 situation has brought new challenges to this procedure. Doing everything within the four walls of our home is now the “new normal” during this lockdown period . In this scenario, how do you scan for colleges and finalise admissions?
We live in a market-driven world. At such times, colleges realise the importance of preventing any loss to students’ education. Thus, many colleges have already started admission procedures. These forward looking institutions of eminence are allowing students to book a seat in their courses by paying a registration fees, which is only a fraction of the cost of a full admission. Students can easily book their seats without having to step out. This is a sure way to ensure that when the time comes, students already have avenues to continue their education without any additional disruption that has already been thrust upon the students due to these unforeseen circumstances.
In such times, maybe we should realise that it is okay to ensure a seat in your preferred institution by paying the registration fees. After all, this is the “new normal” during the lockdown.
The students should understand the importance of continuing education and wisely enrolling themselves in their preferred colleges to ensure the continuity of their education at the earliest. After all, the early bird catches the worm is a truism at all times.
